Best Length of Time for the hCG Diet
For 15 pounds and up, you should consider doing a long round – approx 6 weeks worth of hCG injections – the online hCG companies featured on my blog have 2 kits – one for short, one for long, so you would pick the longer time-frame. Keep in mind this doesn’t mean you have to do exactly as many days as the kit’s list, but you just want to make sure you have enough hCG for 20 lbs of weight loss, which will require 2 vials – that’s what the longer kits come with.

If you are wondering why I didn’t say a 3 week round when you’ve heard you will lose a lb a day on hCG, this is only true in some cases- when you are very overweight with like 100 lbs to lose, yes you may lose an average of a lb a day. When you are a female with only 20 lbs to lose, this will just not happen- no woman has a metabolism that would support that kind of weight loss.
Choosing Best Time in Your Life to do the Diet
Based on many hCG-ers bits of advice, the best time to do hCG is actually on those holiday-free seasons! And if you can, do clean loading to kick off the weight loss faster and also this will help you get through the 1st week easier.
That said, many like to load “dirty” on all the sweets stuff during a holiday and certainly, there are no rules saying you can’t do that. My best advice is just to do your best to plan your actual time on P2 – the very low-calorie part of the diet – during a time when you really don’t have any major plans on your calendar- and then purposefully KEEP it that – being P2 is your “plan” in your calendar during that time.
Lastly, you also want to do your best to plan things so that your first week of P3 is also not going to be during a time where you will be surrounded by temptation at some gathering.
For instance, if there’s a gathering or social event where you really want to be able to have champagne and greek food (;) this came from the original email that brought about this help hub – she wanted the champagne and greek food for a festival!) then you would in this case really need to be done with P3 by this time. At the very least get week 1 out of the way super strict. It’s possible you may be able to have a little bit of a “cheat” during week 2 or 3 – but not guaranteed, however, it’s definitely more likely that you could get away with it whereas in Week 1, I don’t see that going well 100% of the time. Your weight is very volatile when you first get off hCG.
