I get many emails that are all very similar that come down to this basic concern – their weight loss slows down quite noticeably after the first week on the hCG diet – this leads most of us ladies to think something is wrong – either we’ve done something wrong without realizing it, or the diet isn’t working, or that we need to CHANGE something that will then make it go back to the weight loss levels of our first week.
Welll….I’m here to tell you that lower numbers each week after week 1 is to be expected and is actually normal. I’d like to explain why.

But in a nutshell:
It comes down to the number of calories an average woman burns in a day, might be typically say 1500-1700 calories right? And it takes a full 3500 calories to burn off just 1 lb of fat. So if you eat 500 calories a day, and burn say 1700 calories, this means 1700 cals minus the 500 cals you’re eating = 1200 calories a day of “deficit” that’s going on creating your weight loss – this will take almost a full 3 days to add up to 1 full lb of true fat loss (12oo calorie deficit x 3 = 3600 calories) on the scale. Thus a .3-.5/lb per day average weight loss once that water weight is gone is actually scientifically going to what to expect and that’s what you are achieving right now. Does that make sense?
Essentially what I’m telling you is nothing is wrong at all with this pace of progress where the 1st week has a higher weight loss number, followed by the remaining weeks at lower numbers – and you are actually doing quite well. We just have to do a mind shift when realize the logistics behind what is actually going on inside our bodies with the burning of calories. So you really have nothing to worry about right now! Just keep doing what you’re doing.

And also try to keep in mind, these results aren’t “little” – we only think they’re little because we have not been taught accurate information when it comes to weight loss.
Of the vast majority of those ladies who email me with concern and share their numbers, 95% of the time their results are completely normal and on par with the principles behind what has to happen scientifically for them to lose weight – only on a very rare occasion are the numbers not adding up once we break it all down and look at the factors that affect what a normal weight loss pattern is for that person.
You are doing GREAT and just keep it up and try to look at your progress in light of the facts here instead of what it seems like other people achieve or what not so you’ll know scientifically, your body is actually responding in the totally appropriate way.
