Original email for context: I am a Chardonnay drinker. I notice your lists only designate red wine. Please tell me how I can reintroduce me wine in your plan. I can skip desserts in favor of a glass with dinner?
I am not certain about this but it’s very possible that this will work out just fine.
One thing to note is that the calories in most of the P3toLife dessert smoothie are pretty low- it’s possible that if you replace those calories with wine, this might be okay- but you’ll want to make sure the calorie replacement matches- in the first couple weeks of P3 this would not be very much wine.
The 2nd concern is that alcohol is just metabolized differently than food – so even if you only replace the calories exactly, this doesn’t guarantee that everything else will take place the same in your body –
for more help on this topic, please see our special P3toLife lesson on Alcohol on P3 (you must be logged in to view the module). It does give you pointers on how to drink in P3 to help you!
Here’s a couple screenshots to show you how many calories are in a 5 oz glass of red wine, and white wine, in general:
If you’ll notice – especially the first couple week of P3, the dessert smoothies have almost half the calories of this.
Here’s Week 1: 41 calories, 58 calories, and 73 calories respectively.
Week 2: 98 calories, 72 calories, and 167 calories.
That said, many ladies actually lose weight initially the first couple of weeks of P3 on the P3toLife program, so there is often wiggle room in the program for many ladies – if you are one of them, then it’s very possible that you may be able to have a full 5 oz glass of wine without a problem, if you are sticking to the rest of the P3toLife program- I think the likelihood is definitely there! I just can’t guarantee it.
I hope this helps!
