Original email for context: I see most of what you talk about is for women but my husband really has been the hcg yoyo dieter for 7 years and he did the latest round with me. I’m working him thru his “mind” issues but do you have any idea on the p3tolife plan how much he should be eating vs what i would eat?? I understand if you really don’t know but I thought I would ask b/c I don’t want his metabolism to mess up because he isn’t eating enough.
Great Q re hubby, I’m glad you asked. Yes since most my audience is women I really do focus on them and I couldn’t tailor a plan like this for both women and men so I had to pick – THAT said there are quite a number of couples doing this together like you two – so here’s my tips for that:
He will likely definitely need more calories or he will lose weight on the plan – if that’s what he wants to do, that could be okay depending.
To increase calories and not be hungry for guy – there are a few ideas you could utilize one or all:
- making extra snacks like extra chia puddings etc that he could have when he’s hungry for additional small meals
- having a larger serving size of the P3tolife meal- perhaps 1.5x the serving instead
- having the same serving size but adding a little more fat to the meal – ie more butter/oil/avocado etc – like around 1 tbsp extra of oils or 1/8th-1/4 cup of things like avocado –
- added in protein type shakes if he likes those and needs something fast/non-cook
This is by no means super specific, those are just general ideas to work with. Men typically have a lot more wiggle room than women do – he might even just be able to have some fruit for a snack or something without having an issue.
If he can let hunger be his guide, that will help a lot- so if he’s hungry, definitely have him eat more/additional based on the above tips.
