Yes it’s possible. It’s infrequent to be sure, but if you take note of what this Belly Belly article mentions about how many iu’s per ML of liquid (urine) is required for a pregnancy test to register as positive, it’s plausible and has happened. In that article they state that anything under 5iu’s of hCG per 1 ml of urine will not register, but “if your level of hCG is found to be 25mlU hCG/ml or over, then you will get a positive pregnancy test result.”
Let’s think about this for a minute- if you take your hCG injection and then say, half hour later, you pee, it’s likely that a higher amount of hCG will be excreted and you could get a positive pregnancy test. By the time night-time rolls around and you’ve been peeing and excreting all day and you are like 14 hours away from when you took your hCG, now it’s likely that the amount of hCG being excreted is a lot less right? So if you were to test your urine at night, it seems like it wouldn’t test positive.
The other thing that would affect this is the dosage of hCG you are taking to begin with.
If you are taking 250iu of hCG per day, vs. 125iu of hCG per day- well in the prior case you are going to be excreting twice as much daily as the person on the 125iu right? So that will effect how much is in your urine.
Dehydration/hydration levels would affect as well. If you’re dehydrated, then the excretion of hCG in 1ml of pee will likely be greater – if you’ve been drinking lots of water like you’re supposed to, then there will be less hCG per 1 ml of pee right?
All this said, while I don’t think lots of ladies are frequently using a pregnancy test while on the hCG diet, in general it’s very uncommon for me to hear of someone getting a positive pregnancy test on hCG unless they are actually pregnant.
If you are 150ius of hCG, and let’s just say you DID pee it all out in 1 day (except that supposedly hCG stays in your system circulating and gradually reducing for 72 hours, not 24 hours) – but let’s just say- you took 150ius of hCG. And let’s say you peed 6 times that day. 150ius hCG/6 pees = 25ius per pee.
How much pee is there in 1 pee session? :)- Obviously it varies between time of day, and how much you drank at various parts throughout the day. I just measured my own right now at 12 noon after 2 very large cups of black tea. The volume was was 250 ML’s of pee.
250mls/25iu of hCG = 10 iu hCG per ML (the article said it takes 25iu of hCG in the urine stream to be picked up by the pregnancy test to yield a positive result).
That’s IF I was peeing out a constant rate of hCG each day, which is totally not some proven thing, this is just a theoretical example – which shows you that it’s not super common to get a positive pregnancy test while on the hCG Diet.
That said, to reduce the likelihood of a false positive, based on the stuff above it stands to reason that the you will get the least likelihood of a false positive in the following scenarios:
- Doing pregnancy test the furthest hour away from your hCG dose that day
- Staying properly hydrated
- Being on a lower dosage of hCG
I hope that helps!
