There are 3 types of body fat testing that are most reliable (as per Rayzel’s experience & research) – hydrostatic body fat testing (dunk you in water deal), bod pod (air displacement), and DEXA scan or DXA scan (scan your body). Here’s some resources for finding a location near you for these types of testings – I recommend doing before after each round if at all possible.
- Bodyfattest.com
- Fitnesswave.com
- Bodpod.com – look at bottom LH corner of their page to find location near you.
The other thing is to simply enter in one of these type of testing + your location in google to find a center near you that does one of them. Ie. Dexa scan + milwaukee.
I know what you probably REALLY wanted from me are recommendations for a scale that reads bodyfat right? But the problem is, I have found these to be very inaccurate and unreliable especially for how things on hCG transpire. These scales are greatly effected by changes in water and fluids in our bodies as well as even less or more food in our intestines – and because of this, the scales will often make it appear as if you are gaining fat, or your bodyfat percentage is going up, when in reality it’s only that your are losing water weight that makes it appear this way. Ultimately because of this I find they only mess with your head and they are not accurate.
Even with the body composition methods I am recommending above, I advise that you do not test DURING p2, nor directly after – wait until you are about 1 week or more into P3, when your weight is stabilizing out and you are not in any strange state that might throw off your real results. That is what I did for my own testing.
Here is my little youtube video where I shared my beginning bodyfat percent just prior to starting hCG. And here is just 1 of my post follow-up bodyfat tests after doing various rounds of hCG.
I think Bodycomp testing can be a way to stay inspired when you are getting to lower weight and finding motivation more difficult. But outside of that, I honestly think if you stick to the main principles of Dr. Simeons diet – even if you do a higher calorie protocol, but stick with the principle of keeping as much fat out of the diet as possible, that you will have good results from hCG and I don’t think you necessarily need to track your own body fat percent. I’ve come to trust the protocol to work.
