Original email for context: I was trying to do the diet but I’m sabotage myself. I want to have something to eat like popcorn (I know it’s not allowed) but what I mean it’s have a food with volume (too much food with less calories) . Any help or suggestions for my anxiety.
I know where you are coming from girl. I have a bit of a paranoia myself when it comes to feeling like I’m not allowed to eat beyond a certain amount – I too like a lot of volume in my food.
Okay so if you are in that space where you just need to be able to eat for a bit without running out of calories here are my best suggestions
Super Low Calorie Smoothies
These are mostly ice, but believe me when I say they can save your world! These save mine. For me it has been key to have a super good blender like a vitamix or blendtec because it whips the ice and other ingredients into a super fine texture that is very much like ice-cream. Other blenders just can’t achieve this. If you don’t have one of these blenders, you can certainly make do, it just won’t be as pleasing to the palate as it will be more chunky and you have to add a lot more water and less ice so it may not be fully spoonable.
Basically the way to do it is just add ¼-½ of one of your P2 fruit servings, along with water, ice, and some stevia and a squeeze of lemon. Blender that up- you get a lot of volume for this, and if you only use ½ your fruit serving, you can technically have 4 of these in one day and they really do help the fill the psychological urge to eat.
- 4 Calore Maple Vanilla Smoothie
- Cinnamon Cardamom Smoothie – if you eliminate the egg white protein powder from this one, it would also probably be only 4-8 calories.
- Strawberry Peppermint Smoothie – if you eliminate the protein powder, this will be a 1/2 fruit serving.
- Green Apple Slushie – this one uses 1 whole fruit serving, but makes a lot more volume out of that serving than you would get if you just ate the apple plain.
Savoury Ideas
Savoury foods are harder to figure out for volume since most savoury foods aren’t made out of mostly ice! ;)-
MIRACLE NOODLES
I think the BEST savory volume tip I have for you here is Miracle noodles. If you have a bowl of chicken broth with miracle noodles, maybe some fresh shaved ginger in it – this is a lot of volume, it feels like comfort food, and will REALLY help fill you up because of all the fiber. I have a detailed guide on miracle noodles here.
Here’s our recipes: P2 hCG Diet recipes with Miracle Noodles
But honestly, any P2 soup you make, you can add a whole package of miracle noodles to and eat. I would eat 2 of those packs a day on my 5th round- 1 pack at lunch in a soup and 1 pack at dinner in a soup (thankfully my round was in the fall!)
OTHER IDEAS
I know the “snack on cucumber” idea probably sounds really unappetizing, but you can make it a lot more tasty even with something simple like sprinkling a fair amount of salt and dash of red wine vinegar on them.
Pickles (check labels so it’s not a sweet pickle with sugar added) are a very low calorie choice with some volume.
Also some of our shredded veggie salads are quite a good size for very low calories and they can hit the spot from a savoury/salty/sour perspective:
