Original email for context: I’ve used hCG & did everything, I mean did everything followed the instructions & all. Guess what ALL MY MONEY & EFFORT gone to WASTE!!!! I didn’t lose not even a bit!!! Am starting to think that your program was a money making scam!!!!
I do understand your frustration here – I’d like to clarify a few things if you will, as it may help you work towards having a better experience with hCG or any diet for that matter in the future.
First the hCG diet is not my program. Juuuusst fyi there. It’s been around since the 1950’s and a doctor back then created it. You can read all the history of how the hCG protocol came about in his original manuscript called Pounds and Inches (it’s a free download, doesn’t cost a thing!) At this point probably hundreds of thousands have done the protocol over the past 70 years and it wouldn’t be around still if it were truly a scam and didn’t work at all.
But on to your actual experience with the hCG Diet, because of course that’s a very real thing that you’ve seen with your very own eyes right? So let’s address that. One common misconception is that people think taking the hCG hormone is what causes the weight loss, so if they don’t lose weight, they think that what they were told about hCG is false, that it doesn’t make you lose weight, and then they feel upset like you.
But actually, hCG does not cause weight loss. It’s the 500 very low calorie diet that actually produces causes the weight loss. hCG’s role in the matter is still important but different – it changes your sensation of hunger while being on such a low calorie diet, and seems to preserve lean muscle mass as well.
What I’m getting at here, is that even if a person didn’t take any hCG, but followed the 500 calorie diet as it sounds like you did, such a person whose bodily state was in normal operating condition, would lose pretty much the same amount of weight as someone on hCG. It may not happen in as healthy a manner, but since they are still experiencing such a huge calorie deficit, they would lose a significant amount of weight.
So the fact that you did that low calorie diet, and did not lose weight, means there is actually something wrong with your body right now – I’m not blaming this on you, but I am saying you must have some hormone imbalances and low metabolism issues going on that is causing your body to react this way to the low calorie diet. Which can be super frustrating. Being a person with chronic illness, I am VERY well aware of the confusion, being lost, and frustrations associated with my body not working the way it should and having NO idea why or where to begin to figure it all out. I’ve been dealing with sickness like this (hashimotos and lyme disease) for about 17 years. So I’m not a stranger to it.
But I have figured lots of things out, and I believe you can do if you begin your research journey. Just to reiterate, there is something imbalanced in your body if you are not losing weight on a 500 calorie diet. Because this means that your body is getting by just fine on eating only 500 calories, and this is not normal.
As far as where to begin, I have a post that may help you get started:
How to Research Hormone Imbalances
The only other thing I can think of is, since there are so many hCG protocols out there, that are far different from the original Dr. Simeons protocol, you might just make a quick comparison to see if you were following his or a newer alternate protocol. While alternate protocols work for some, others find that this stalls them out and the total calories on the various protocols can vary quite a bit. The original diet was 500 calories, with a very limited ingredient list – here’s my post on that here:
Phase 2 hCG BasicsI hope this helps you- I’m sorry to have to tell you that it’s not hCG but something wrong with your body, but it’s the honest truth and you will struggle no matter what you do with any diet if you don’t try to uncover what is going on. It’s really worth it.
