Original email for context: I’m wondering if after 1 round, if I still have to lose some weight, am I required to do the HCG diet again? Can’t I just do a healthy diet and exercise?
Hello! This depends a little bit on if you’ve had success losing weight on your own in the past. There has been some confusion over just what exactly hCG does. Some feel it ruins your metabolism, making it impossible to lose weight on your own afterwards, and others thinks it fixes your metabolism.
My observation is that it does neither. Since hCG doesn’t fix hormone imbalances, if a person has a condition that has made it impossible/difficult to lose weight on their own in the past (ie hypothyroid condition, adrenal fatigue, certain sex hormones like estrogen being too high, etc), then this issue will continue post hCG since doesn’t fix it. I have a post to help ladies who think they may have a hormone imbalance like this on how to further research it.
If however, you are a person who has been able to lose weight with healthy diet and exercise prior to doing the hCG diet, then you should be able to continue doing that post hCG as well.
I have a blogpost on this topic to help you further:
5 Ways to Lose Weight Without the hCG Diet
Weight loss with hCG is typically the quickest way to shed pounds, but I totally get the desire to lose the last pounds on your own and I think that’s great to give it a try. You can always come back to hCG if you need it, so might as well give it a shot on your own right!
