Original email question for context: I Have always suffered from insomnia but surprisingly it has greatly improved with Keto and intermittent fasting that I have used the past 7 months to maintain my weight…but as soon as I took my first dose of HCG my insomnia came back with a vengeance… any thoughts?
I’m so glad that you DID find something to help your insomnia prior to hCG – in researching it online, it’s very interesting how Keto resolved insomnia in some – like this gal mentioned similar experience as you, and this forum post said the same thing, but then for many others doing Keto, it has actually caused insomnia for them! Crazy weird.
While I don’t know the reason for insomnia coming back with hCG, here are a couple of things to try:
(Also I discuss these and more important details related to sleep and the hCG Diet here).
Some very simple natural supplementation tactics can be tried – they do work quite well, but I’m sure won’t be the fix for everyone.
NORMALIZE CORTISOL LEVELS WITH THIS
1 cause of insomnia can be abnormally high levels of cortisol at night (which being on this diet can cause). If that’s the cause of your insomnia, taking phosphatidylserine can be a complete “cure” in the sense of how well it works for this particular cause. What it does is it regulates/normalizes your cortisol naturally. Here is one person’s experience using it. It really does work if that’s the problem- I’ve experienced it myself – while I have never had a chronic insomnia issue, there were 2 periods in my life where I did – one of them was on hCG – and when I took 2 of these capsules at night before bed, the very first night I slept soundly with no issues and it continued that way when I took 2 each night.
GET SLEEPY WITH MAGNESIUM
Magnesium- I have READ that taking extra magnesium helps with sleepiness too – I’m not sure how, but I take it every night for other reasons – I take a powdered flavored magnesium that I dissolve in water each night before bed – that’s here:
Source Naturals Serene Science Magnesium– Berry flavor. They sell smaller containers than this but I like this since I do take it every single night for constipation. There are quite a few Amazon reviews no magnesium products saying how much it improved their sleep – if you’ve tried a regular dosing and it didn’t help, I would actually try a higher than usual dosing before giving up on it altogether – sometimes for the therapeutic benefits, we are going for we need more.
I hope this helps!
