Original email for context: I have about 100 pounds to lose. Because of the rapid weight loss, I am worried about having a large amount of excess skin. Is there a way to prevent this?
This is my observation- how much lose skin you experience seems to be highly genetic. The elasticity of a person’s skin really varies. I wouldn’t even say it necessarily depends on how much weight is lost because I have seen women who’ve lost over 80 lbs have no visible excess skin (by “visible” I mean they state they have a little, but on their youtube videos from a short distance it’s not obviously apparent), and I have seen women who have a lot of excess skin (because they so bravely bared their lovely extra skin on youtube for us all).
I have lost 54 lbs with the hCG Diet, and I have so little excess skin that I can’t even really speak of it- literally just a tiny bit on my belly area. That’s it.
Overall, it seems that excess skin is far better when weight is lost with the hCG Diet than lost with other diets. Hormones are really quite powerful- where do you think many women get that wonderful “glow” from when they are pregnant? Or conversely, what do you think causes nasty breakouts all over your body for some pregnant women? Hormones! hCG is a hormone, and as such, the capabilities within your body will really change as opposed to just being on your own without the hormone. I am not alone is saying that excess skin is better overall with hCG.
Alas, this still doesn’t mean no one will have excess skin. Several hCGers I have seen are considering follow up cosmetic surgery to get rid of it. And that’s the thing. I don’t believe ANY lotion can make POUNDS of skin just disappear. Wishful thinking folks. So if you are one of those people who has a lot of excess skin, it seems that surgery is the only way to really correct this.
If you have only a little excess skin, I think working out can help “fill” you out a bit- fat and skin always lies more nicely over some well-formed muscle.
Other than that, most of us who choose to do the hCG protocol have come to the conclusion that we have the choice to of 2 evils- having a lot of excess fat or excess skin- in the end, the majority of us choose to lose the fat as that is the real health-issue and it’s often easier to hide a little excess skin but harder to hide a much larger pants size.
I hope that helps a little. Overall people seem to look pretty darn good to me after their weight loss with hCG.
