In short, yes IF you get a certain type. You want to use on Phase 2 a balsamic vinegar that has between 5-15 calories per 1 tbsp serving. If you look for that, you will be safe. Photo below to show you an example.
This question comes up on occasion because unlike other vinegars, balsamic vinegar shows some sugars on the nutrition label.
In my opinion, as long as you get the right TYPE of balsamic vinegar, it is okay for P2 – and we utilize this type in our hcgchica P2 recipes!

So what type of balsamic vinegar is okay then?
All balsamic vinegar will have some sugar as far as grams of sugar go listed on the nutrition label because of the natural sugars in it even.
From what I’ve seen there is a thick syrupy balsamic vinegar that will have a lot more grams of sugar when you compare it, and a thin more-like-vinegar-consistency balsamic that has much less sugar – let me show you what I mean – here are 2 bottles of different balsamic vinegars I own – as you’ll notice, one bottle has only 10 calories and 2g of sugar per 1 tbsp, while the other has 35 calories (more than triple) and 8g of sugar per 1 tbsp.
So again, if you use on P2 a balsamic vinegar that has between 5-15 calories per 1 tbsp serving. If you look for that, you will be safe.
Also please keep in mind that balsamic vinegar is different from prepared balsamic vinaigrette dressings- these will surely have a lot of added sugar so avoid these on Phase 2.
